The short film tells the life story of Meggie's maternal grandmother, or Lao Lao. Through many still photographs and abstract images, the film traces the lives of four generations of women who have struggled to reach light. With Lao Lao as the central protagonist, the film follows her life story for more than five decades, observing her battle to obtain hopes and dreams during and after the political upheaval of the Communist regime.
